Don’t go to the flea market when it’s raining. You will not see anything in the stalls. Everything for sale is covered with tarpaulins. It is good to know that the flea market is not a good option on a rainy day during King’s Day in the Netherlands, as most of the items for sale would probably be covered with tarpaulins. King’s Day, or Koningsdag, is a national holiday in the Netherlands celebrated on 27 April (unless it falls on a Sunday, in which case it is moved to 26 April). It is a day of national celebration in honour of the birthday of the Dutch King. During King’s Day, many Dutch people take part in outdoor activities, including flea markets, street parties and parades.
