Münster was quite quiet on this Sunday but the traffic on the channel was heavy. This sluice on the Dortmund-EMS channel in Coerde is quite interesting. The passage of the barges in the Dortmund-EMS channel in Coerde, even if it may seem trivial, is always impressive. The 2 barges that we saw passed by were really big barges, they needed about half an hour to pass by. The length of the locks is about 100 meters and the difference in level is 6 meters.
After our visit, our first question was: how many cubic meters of water were transferred within de sluice during the passage of the barges? And the second question was: how many tons did these both barges transported?
